EMDR Research News July 2023

In this third posting of 2023 there are 18 new articles related to EMDR therapy. 15 articles have links to the open access full text article. There is 1 new meta-analysis, 2 quasi-experimental studies, and 3 study protocols. There are 2 commentaries. A commentary by Brewerton examines the need for the integrated treatment of eating disorders with co-occurring PTSD. The other by Rosen challenges the origin story of EMDR therapy and examines the background of Francine Shapiro before EMDR. A laboratory study from Germany describes a lab set up that can be used to explore the effects of alternating bilateral stimuli (using lights) on conditioned fear responses in mice. A case-series from Singapore reports EMDR shows promise as a treatment for Postpartum Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. A case-series from Turkey reports EMDR showed positive effects on panic disorder in adolescents.
